 Greetings everyone,
You may have noticed quite a few changes around the old family site lately. This is because I have been working hard on a new and improved Family Land. I have always had a goal to create a SECURE, highly interactive, online community, media portal, and blog solution for my entire family. With this latest version of Family Land, I think we are well on our way to that goal.
I was able to incorporate most of the information from the old site except the comments on the photo section and all 3 user accounts. Unfortunately, this means you have to sign up for a new account on this web site. The good news is this single account will now work across all the other sections of the site like the photo, discussion, and genealogy site. No more need to create a separate account for each of these sections like in the past.

This new site will provide an easy-to-use graphical user interface that simplifies the management and publishing of large volumes of content including HTML, documents, pictures and rich media. If you have not tested the genealogy site, I urge you to make that your first stop.
With a fully documented library of developer resources, Joomla! and the other 3 programs we are using will allow us to customize every aspect of our Web site including presentation, layout, administration, and the rapid integration with third-party applications. With the Photo Gallery, Discussion Forum, and Genealogy modules, we can now also easily add photos, and start documenting and discussing our family tree, all using a single account of the main site.
The 4 main programs we are now using have a rich heritage and have been crowned king many times over. Now with more power under the hood, Family Land is shifting gear and providing developer power while making the user experience all the more friendly. For those who always wanted increased extensibility, this site can now easily make it happen.
Stability has always been a concern for me. I realize nobody wants to spend hours uploading photos, or adding data to the family tree, only to find it is lost a week later. I can assure you with this new host I am using, and my experience with moving our old data to this new host we are well protected. While I could have moved over the 3 accounts we had at the old site, and the missing comments from the photo site, the work to do this was not worth the reward. Under the new systems, this will no longer be any trouble at all.
